congenitaldisease:

It’s certainly unheard of for a serial killer to be killed by his intended victim. Nevertheless, that’s exactly what happened to suspected serial killer, Wayne Nance. The demise of this sadistic serial killer took place on 4 September, 1986, when Nance broke into the home of Kris and Doug Welles in Missoulla, Montana. Once inside, Nance produced a knife and began stab Doug, leaving him for dead in the basement. He then turned his attention to Kris, who he just so happened to work with. He took the petrified woman upstairs. He had intended on raping her before ending her life. However, Doug wasn’t dead. Despite being brutally stabbed, he managed to retrieve his rifle and drag his way upstairs. He shot Nance dead. Doug made a full recover, but that wasn’t the end of this story.

After Nance’s murder, authorities uncovered that this attempted slaying wasn’t an isolated incident. A search of his house linked him to at least five separate killings, including the killing of 16-year-old Marci Bachman. The photograph on the left is of Marci and Nance. It was discovered inside his home, along with DNA evidence. In addition, they linked him to the sexual assault and stabbing of a 5-year-old girl in 1974, who miraculously survived his heinous attack. The true number of victims attributed to Nance is unknown, but it’s safe to say he certainly never expected to meet his demise with the same violence he showed his victims. However, unlike his victims, he was deserving of it.
